Book Review #3 The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

      Mara Dyer doesn't thing life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.

It can.

        Wow! What A cliffhanger. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is definitely one of those books that will be on my mind for awhile because it was simply amazing. 

        The psychological and mysterious aspects of the book, blew me away along with the building up of the romance and a hint of the paranormal. It didn’t fail to keep me interested and wanting to know what exactly happened to Mara and hers friends and whats going to happen to Mara and Noah Now. 

          I love the fact that every prediction I made about whats going to happen was completely wrong especially in the very end. Every time I was pretty sure something was going to happen, it was like, BAM, wrong answer. 

      The characters were written nicely. Mara was okay, not too whiney, not too sane either. Noah, definitely not my in my top book boyfriends, he was a little too much of a jerk for me. But he redeems himself enough in the end to make him likeable. I also like Mara's parents and the fact that they didn't disappear at the most convenient times.   

         The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was very well written. Ms. Hodkin definitely knows how to creates suspense that keep you wanting more and more.

Book Review #2 Shatter Me

For exactly 264 days, Juliette has been imprisoned in a small room because she touched someone and that person died.  

     Before I actually got around to reading this book, I had already heard a lot of bad reviews about it. Which is why I was hesitant to read it. But now that I've actually read it, I've realized that I really liked it. It was awesome, but it wasn't perfect, the book definitely had it's faults...

      Problem number 1 was this. The strike out thing annoyed me so much, I actually cringed every time my eyes over them. I understand that they were used to emphasize stuff or whatever but it was used to much, which made all of them quite annoying. And the occasional use of numbers (1,2,3...) instead of writing out the actual word was very annoying as well.

       Problem number two was Juliet. She was such a depressing person. And she was so... weak. I mean, she never even fought back. At least not until the end of the book. But most of the time she was letting people at her school, Warner, and her own parents walk all over her. I understand that she didn't do anything because she was "good" but I think its pretty unrealistic to let people walk over you, that much, and not say a word. 

         Problem number three was Warner. Well, Warner wasn't really one of my problems with the book. He just confused me, a little bit. Because, honestly, I don't know if he really is an evil person or if he's just really confused. And it seems to me like he could be apart of a love triangle with along with Adam and Juliette because during the entire book Juliette never exactly treated him like he was the villain. She just sorta went along with whatever he said and went on about how cute he was. A part of me feels a little sorry for him because hes so confused but another part of me did a happy dance when Juliette shot him. 

            But I absolutely, positively loved Adam. He was a pretty awesome character. Strong,hot, tall, tattooed, loyal, protective. He was just the perfect package (fans self). Adam really made the whole book worth reading. He was just awesome (did I say that already?).

           Even though, it wasn't exactly the Dystopian novel I was expecting, Shatter Me kept me interested enough to read it in all in a matter of hours and it defiantly left me wanting to know whats going to happened to these guys in the next book. Which unfortunately come out next year. Buy It Here

Book Review #1 Anna Dressed In Blood

  

Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story... 

Warning: This book will most likely scare the crap out of you. 

              Anna Dressed in Blood isn't scary at all. If you're not afraid of ghost, evil voodoo monsters living in your basement, and occasional ghostly hitchhikers that want to kill you. But if you should so happen to be afraid of these things (Like me) then you definetly want to read this one with the lights on because it was pretty creepy.  

                I mean it was just really strange. And there were some things I didn't really understand. Like how the heck do you fall in love with a ghost that likes to disembowel people and/or children. Maybe I could understand if she was a pretty ghost, but half the time Anna was all black soul less eyes, Medusa hair, and black veins crawling all over her face. That sounds pretty unattractive to me but Cas just kept coming back for more. And the antagonist, evil dude, with the missing pieces of flesh and eyes sew shut kind of reminded me of the boogeyman on, like, ten times worse.  

              Even this book really freaked me out, it was really good. I read it all in about four hours. The characters were a bit strange but Ms. Black kept me intrested in what was going to happen to them. Anna's background story was very tragic and I felt sympathetic towards her (despite her unfavorable hobbies) and I thought Cas was a pretty good guy. The romance between Anna and Cas was nice, not overdone and not underdeveloped, but just right. 

            So, overall, I liked it and I recomend to anyone who like a scary book with descriptive blood and gore and guts and rotted flesh and...( you get the idea right?) Buy It Here
